This week GIRLS reached 30,000 subscribers! Thank you so much to everyone who has read and shared my writing, wow. I just can’t believe it.
To celebrate, I’m offering 30% off paid subscriptions for anyone who signs up before the end of November. By upgrading, you can access all my archived essays, start threads in the GIRLS chat, and read exclusive conversations with other writers (some very exciting ones coming soon!). And if there’s anything else paid subscribers would like to see—maybe video calls, reading recommendations, subscriber meet-ups, or something I haven’t thought of—please let me know!
I also wanted to apologise for being a bit quiet lately and not writing here as much as I’d like. I’ve been trying to balance writing my book, my column for After Babel, my work with the Anxious Generation and also a lot of change in my personal life (all very exciting though!)
It’s also been a busy year of travel—I was lucky enough to travel across Europe, as well as spend the summer in America and Canada. Along the way I met so many amazing writers and thinkers, and some of you, which was very surreal. I always thought I was shy and introverted but this year has shown me how much can change when you find the right people. Okay everything I write is coming out like a cliché but I do just feel very grateful.
Anyway, after all the travel and excitement, I’ve finally settled back in England. It feels so good to be home, and I feel like this entire year for me can really be summed up with one of my favourite Chesterton quotes: “There are two ways of getting home; and one of them is to stay there. The other is to walk round the whole world till we come back to the same place.”
I can’t thank you all enough for subscribing. This year has drawn to me to some incredible people and places, and maybe everyone thinks this but I really do believe there’s something special about my subscribers and the beautiful comments and stories I receive from you. So thank you, all of you.
More soon,
— Freya
